US retail sales increased by 0.2% in the month of October, far below the 1.6% anticipated. Core Retail Sales m/m were even more dissapointing at 0.1% as a 1.2% increase was expected.
To add insult to injury prices were higher as Core CPI m/m came at 0.2% above the 0.1% estimate.
The dollar loses ground against most currencies after the news release and stock indices turn slightly lower.
